The New Google: Building Your Google SEO Tools

Surely you noticed the increasing number of advertisements in the Google search results, also known as paperclips. For online marketing and SEO this means increased competition for first page results. This Google news alert is not new to most, but many are still trying to figure out what to do about it. Don’t panic because here are a few helpful Google SEO tools that all online companies can use!

Top Three Tips for the New Google

  • Google Maps SEO– If it’s not already, list your business on Google Places for Business. For many businesses, after getting listed, Google local SEO will include your business in the map results on the first page of results. To increase your chances, provide a full profile (after your listing is verified). This includes adding photos, getting reviews, and including videos, when possible. Note many are confused by whether to use Google Places or Google+. For now, register your business on Google Places. • Care for Your Content – One of the frequently reoccurring Google SEO tips is to invest in your content. Create relevant, new content that correlates with your keywords for each page. Listen to your social media communities to find out what they are talking about and blog about it. If you have old articles that do not rank well, delete them. Provide updates to your static website pages as well two or three times per year. Great content published frequently is loved by your customers and Google SEO optimization.
  • Include Images – YouTube has become one of the largest search engines. It has accelerated the ever changing way of how users interact online and driven a sharp rise in using visual interaction online. Ever noticed that Google shows images and videos in search results, bumping down the more traditional websites in the search results? Publishing images and videos with with well-planned SEO in the descriptions and alt-text are additional ways to get to the coveted page 1, especially when your website is not ranking (yet).
